Mateco Drilling Company Leading the Way

Rotary Sonic Environmental Investigations

As technologies used for subsurface sampling and installing monitoring wells advances significantly, Mateco Drilling continues to be a leader in this competitive field.  By adding the mid-size Geoprobe® 8140 DT Rotary Sonic rig to our fleet, Mateco offers our clients a complete range of preferred drilling and sampling methods.

This high-capacity, mid-sized sonic machine has the capacity to advance large diameter tooling yet maintain the compact Geoprobe® footprint.  The primary benefits of sonic technology are very rapid drilling rates combined with reduced volumes of waste. The Geoprobe® Rotary Sonic uses an oscillator with frequency of vibration between 0-150 Hz and maximum rotary torque of 3,500 ft-lbs. Vibration of the drill bit or core barrel can be varied to allow optimum penetration of subsurface materials. The 8140 DT has increased head travel speed, helping it to achieve high advancement rates in some formations.  The GV4 oscillator drive has the dynamic force required to advance 6 inch casing to depths in excess of 100 ft. bgs.  A dual string assembly allows advancement of casing with the inner sampler used to collect samples.
